Championship Opener

There was an air of expectation ahead of the Rye House meet and the first round of the inaugural csma Karting championship.

Who was going to come out on top!? With everyone split into 3 weight bandings, it was always going to be competitive.

With the weather over the proceeding 2 days having been diabolical, Rye-House's usually excellent fleet of karts had taken a battering and many were not running as smoothly as normal. Or at least, that is what everyone was using as an excuse throughout the day!

This did lead to a little bit of a lottery on whether you got a good kart at key stages in the mornings events. However, that's racing for you and, of course, the best drivers still got to the top (in general!). Weather was good throughout, with just the slightest of sprinkles during the A final. However, the infield was like one big lake and often parts of the track were treacherous as anyone spinning off would drag huge puddles of water back onto the track.

Well done to everyone for getting through the morning with only 1 or two dummies being spat out! Well done to Allan for putting up with inaccurate info from the track staff and the general circling of the vultures eager to get the results of each race.

As for the afternoon endurance, there was definitely a more relaxed atmosphere during the afternoon endurance. Some good racing on show as ever with only 11 seconds between the top two at the finish.

Alan W again takes the honours for the fastest lap of the day with a 41.59.

Well done everyone who took part in the championship. If things didn't go quite to plan this time out, just remember that everything is not lost as only your best 4 results will count towards the final standings.

Already looking forward to the next one at Whilton Mill on 21st April. Get your entries in now!
