......another cracking day at the Hoddesden Raceway

On October 9th our csma Karting Group enjoyed another csma exclusive day at the Rye House Raceway in Hertfordshire.

Each driver had the oppotunity to spend up to 140 minutes on track as a programme of two practice sessions, two races and an 'A' plus a 'B' Final led to a two-man ninety minute Endurance style event to finish off this great value-for-money day.



Most drivers enjoy this well-tested format and the mixture of disciplines, chatting on the Pit wall and socialising in the Clubhouse seems to go down well.

AG had arranged for dry weather throughout the event and the racing was particularly close this time. Alan Williamson broke the csma lap-record twice during the day with several others inside the same second - all competitive stuff ! So competitive in fact that, after 90 minutes of racing, the top four Endurance Teams were separated by less than two & a half seconds at the Finish Line !



Prizes a-plenty were earned and awarded including trophies and the traditional champagne. But as we left the circuit the ever-threatening clouds decided now was their moment and most 'racers endured a very long wet drive home with quite serious flooding affecting both the A10 & M25. Still, as my passengers remarked, rather now than a couple of hours ago...( memories of our October 2005 event which we had to abandon before we'd even got booted & suited due to similar conditions!).



Many thanks to John, Steve & the Team at Rye House for another excellent day and thanks to AG and the csma Karting Committee for giving us such a great day.
