Wowzers. A busy day with lots to cram in for everyone. Tonnes of on track action on a day that involved not one points scoring final - but two for everyone!

31 people turned up nice and early to a track bathed in Autumn sun. Mixed in with the regulars, we had some new faces and it was also great to see some people returning for the first time having had such fun at Whilton Mill.

We always have a good day at Rye House and the track action is quick to get up to speed. There was lots at stake going into the racing as well. For those entered into the CSMA Karting Championship, things were tight going into this final round all the way through the field and with double points on offer, there was ground to be made and lost.

The morning practice and qualification races were an opportunity for everyone to get up to speed. With a split grid for the early races, there was lots for everyone to be getting on with. The faster racers having to work hard to breach the gap.

The C & D finals were up and were the first chances for points scoring. Russ made a start to what would turn out to be a great performance by winning the D final. Terry was a very close second just 0.65s back and Alan W rounded off the podium with 3rd - JUST ahead (0.04s) of Fern who was in turn just ahead of Tom (0.06s).

Ashley made a great start to his day by winning the C final ahead of Rob R and Dave G, Nick was 4th with Chris just 0.18s behind. Gary was a further position back.

With Gary and Tom having a slightly below par finishing position, things were hotting up for the championship.

With Dave M and John Y having a relatively poor first final, they found themselves in the B final. With two spots available for the A final, having these two underperforming earlier pretty much sealed these spots. Indeed, Dave was absolutely flying in this race with a fastest time of 40.37s. That's just 0.01 slower than the fastest CSMA Rye House lap time.

Behind John, Gary D was 3rd with Martin N and Mark P the best of the rest.

Onto the A final. It was a fast and furious race and there were some great battles through the field. There were so few mistakes being made that making ground was proving hard. Russ, in another great performance, won from pole with Alan W taking 2nd from 2nd on the grid. Tom made up some time from his 5th place start to round off the podium. Dave Morris screamed through the field and was the biggest climber. From the 15th grid slot, he ended up finishing 6th place.

Some frantic points scoring later and the Championship had been decided.
A 3-way tie at the top of the table meant splitting the winner based on wins count-back.

The overall championship podium was therefore Rob Reynolds in 3rd, Gary Martin in 2nd and Tom Brooks hanging on to win.

In the individual weight categories, Alan W was awarded the under 80Kg category (by virtue of Tom having won a bigger trophy so not being eligible :)) Russ' great performance at this event pushed him up to 3rd in class.

In the 80-90Kg category - a mistake was made! I have to hold my hands up and admit that I awarded 4 additional points to Martin Nelson by mistake. This meant that the trophy was awarded to Martin, when in fact the rightful winner was John Y. Many apologies to John (who may have even queried the result...) and Martin. I believe that AG is arranging for a trophy for you John... So the final podium for this category was Rob R in 3rd, Martin N in 2nd and John Y winning.

In the 91-100Kg category, Gary M won overall with Chris H in 2nd and Peter Silvester grabbing 3rd.

In the over 100Kg category, there were only 3 contenders so a podium wasn't really that hard! However, it was close at the top with Ian D taking the honours above M1 by just 1 point.

Well done to all. You can see all results on the championship page.

The afternoon's enduro was a good'un. Terry teaming up with Rye-House Steve was always going to be a strong partnership. Dave M was paired with Chris H and whilst Dave was doing his darndest to keep in the fight - and indeed managed to do so for the first 2 stints, Chris just wasn't quick enough to hold off Terry and Steve.
Finishing in 3rd were Andy R and Mark F.

A great days racing. The end of the outdoor season seen off in style.
A huge thanks to Allan G and Drew for their hard work in organising the season for everyone.

It's time for indoors now. Bookings are open. See you there!
